LLAL Community Investment Fund (CIF)

The LLAL CIF (formerly the LLAL Partnership fund) has been operating since 2013 in partnership with Luton Borough Council to achieve priority outcomes for the communities in Luton. In October 2019, Bedfordshire & Luton Community Foundation (BLCF) became the awarding body to administer the CIF – the first time an external organisation has managed the fund in order to ensure transparency, objectivity and more effective monitoring and impact measurement.

Due to the CIF having an open application process for the first time, we are anticipating significant demands with large numbers of applications and therefore will be heavily oversubscribed.

Key priority areas for CIF and applying for a grant

This fund provides grants to key community groups focusing on the following 3 key areas:

1. Education, skills and employability

2. Prosperity and wellbeing

3. Safer & Stronger communities.

Applicants applying for this fund will need to demonstrate that the services they are intending to provide will meet the priority outcomes of the LLAL CIF themes. We would strongly recommend that you speak with the Foundation team before applying on 01582 522422.

Decisions will be made by a community panel on an annual basis, who best understand their local area and the change they want to see. Whilst we are aware that with this first round of applications there has only been a limited timespan in which to implement a new grants application process, we are keen to ensure that there is as much time as possible at the end of this process, for notification of decisions to organisations (decisions should be with groups 2 weeks after the panel date).

BLCF are also planning to hold an event where potential applicants will be able to speak to the grants team in relation to any queries about the application process, please check our website for updates.
