Queen Elizabeth II said, “It has been women who have breathed gentleness and care into the hard progress of humankind.”

At EVOLVE, gender equality and empowering women is at the heart of everything we do and the Queen challenged gender norms throughout her 70-year reign. She was also the longest-serving active member of the Women’s Institute from 1943 to 2022.

As, we mourn her passing we wish to celebrate her long life, and remember some of her most inspiring moments.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Altered the laws of succession to the British throne to be defined by birth order, regardless of gender, in the Succession to the Crown Act 2013.

Became an auto mechanic in World War II, the first and only woman in the royal family to serve in the Armed Forces.

Drove the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia around in her Land Rover, while Saudi women still weren’t allowed to drive in their own country.

Endorsed the 2013 Commonwealth Charter that states ‘gender equality and women’s empowerment are essential components of human development and basic rights.’

The Queen is the world’s oldest and longest-reigning monarch, and a role model of strength and leadership for women around the globe. We at EVOLVE are all  deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth II is a wonderful inspiration, we shall never forget the enriching influence she had on the lives of women throughout the world!
